Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is companionship for all aspects of the life with God, from the big events to everyday matters and little details. As a spiritual director, I am a compassionate listener who makes space for people to reflect on their lives, to notice God's presence, and to respond to God’s invitations. As I listen to someone, I also listen to the Holy Spirit, who is the Real Director. God loves us each personally and is always present in our lives, but sometimes we need quiet, reflective space to help us notice God's love in our lives. Spiritual direction offers this space.

Spiritual direction is an ancient spiritual practice. Examples of this kind of relationship are throughout the Bible, such as when Eli helped Samuel realize the voice that called in the night was the voice of God, or in Jesus' practice of asking his followers questions and listening to them. This tradition carried on through the Desert Mothers and Fathers, Julian of Norwich, Evelyn Underhill, and many others.

My Approach

Practical Details

The focus of our time together is what you bring to each spiritual direction meeting. Often this is something that is absorbing your attention, such as a transition, loss, decision, frustration, or joy. Whether you bring the big or little details of life, we will look together for God’s work and invitation.

Generally, spiritual direction meetings are monthly, with each lasting about an hour.  Most of my spiritual direction sessions are on Zoom, which allows me to meet with people near and far. If you are in the Woodinville area and want to meet in person, let's talk.

Sessions are offered on a sliding scale between $50 and $80. However, I don't want finances to be a barrier to spiritual direction so please let me know if this is an issue.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a free introductory session, please contact me.
